Customer Qualification Trials

Maine Test Burn Update

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

The second qualification trial was completed during the week of October 13. BioOil® was combusted under high fire conditions to produce the required heat load and stack temperature. All emissions data were in line with expectations.

Having completed tests on a small scale hot water boiler, the State of Maine, Bureau of General Services, Property Management Division is now considering BioOil utilization on a larger steam boiler where BioOil operating parameters can be optimized.

A second qualification trial in a hot water boiler has been scheduled with State of Maine, Bureau of General Services, Property Management Division. The trial is scheduled to take place the week of October 13th. The second trial will continue Dynamotive’s process of qualifying its BioOil® for purchase during the upcoming winter heating season.

On October 2nd & 3rd a customer qualification trial was conducted at the State Capitol Complex in Augusta, Maine.

During the trial, BioOil® displaced # 2 diesel fuel in a Cleaver Brooks hot water boiler and cycled for several hours to produce and maintain the required heat load. The BioOil® burned at the specified operating conditions and produced a bright, stable flame geometry.

Dynamotive worked with the State of Maine, Bureau of General Services, Property Management Division to complete this trial and both parties view the test as a first step in displacing # 2 diesel fuel with BioOil®. Discussions are now underway with Maine officials to plan the next steps.

Since the restart of West Lorne’s operations in late July, two customer qualification trials have been conducted and a total of 8 product shipments, BioOil® & CQuest™ Biochar, have been made to clients for commercial use and to prospective clients. Shipments from West Lorne will continue in October for additional market development and customer shipments.
